This exciting new program takes you step-by-step through
the process of writing short stories and novels for two of the HOTTEST
genres in publishing: Urban Fantasy and Dark Fantasy. These genres allow writers to include elements of horror, science
fiction, high fantasy, humor, thriller, romance and more! It's a genre
that is exploding in adult and young adult markets, and Jonathan will
share insider info on how to craft marketable stories in these two
areas. This includes info on pacing, voice, plot, character development, myth and folklore, world-building, figurative
language, and more…and includes a strong business component to teach
you how to sell your work by finding the right agent and editor, crafting a killer query, and where to find the best markets for your work.

Your instructor: Jonathan Maberry is a multiple Bram Stoker Award-winning author who has sold six novels, twenty nonfiction books, short stories, plays, as well as over 1100 feature articles. Jonathan is the co-creator (with Laura Schrock) of ON THE SLAB, an entertainment news show for ABC Disney Stage 9. Jonathan is editing a serial graphic novel for the ITW (International Thriller Writers) which includes chapters written by Joe Lansdale, Eric Von Lustbader, James Rollins, David Liss, and Jay Bonansinga. He's also a speaker for the National Writers Union, and an active member of HWA (Horror Writers Association) , SFWA (Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America) and the MWA (Mystery Writers of America).
